Having started another season of IPL in their typical way, Mumbai Indians on Monday (March 31, 2025), is getting ready to take the defending champions – Kolkata Knight Riders – on the former’s home ground, hoping for a quick turnaround.
Having built a reputation as ‘slow starters,’ Mumbai Indians has emerged as one team that will finish on the right side by the end of the IPL. So far, the team has lost its first two matches against Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans.

Mumbai Indians, which suffered consecutive losses in away games, will have to be at its best against a team that is helmed by two Mumbaikars —captain Ajinkya Rahane and head coach Chandrakant Pandit. The Knight Riders will bank on Sunil Narine’s all-round exploits after the West Indian missed the last game against Rajasthan Royals.
Skipper Hardik Pandya will return to Wankhede Stadium, after a series of success, in the front of the crowd that was mostly against him in the last season.
For Kolkata Knight Riders, it would be imperative to build on their big win over Rajasthan Royals after losing their season opener to Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
