Chandrakant Pandit, the Kolkata Knight Riders head coach, has stated that IPL franchises will enjoy home advantage.
“Who will not be happy about that? I mean, this is a simple answer,” Pandit said on Sunday, when asked if it’s time for all the teams to be given the home advantage in IPL.
The topic has come to the fore with the well-documented differences between Cricket Association of Bengal chief curator Sujan Mukherjee and the Knight Riders management over the nature of the Eden Gardens pitch. Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming also stated on Friday that CSK has not had home advantage at Chepauk.
“See, as a coach, as a team management, whatever the surface has been provided to us, we play (on it). The control, of course, will be under curator,” Pandit said.
“…We expect something to be provided (for the home team). That’s all.”
Pandit confirmed that Sunil Narine has recovered from his stomach bug that forced him to miss Knight Riders’ last match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
“Sunil is 100 per cent fit. He has definitely recovered well and he has been practising since yesterday,” Pandit said.
While Mumbai Indians did not have a media interaction or have an official training session after their game in Ahmedabad on Saturday night, left-handed batter Robin Minz and back-up overseas Bevon Jacobs had a long stint in the nets on Sunday evening.
