You just have to play smarter and score one run more than the opponent: Samson

‘Home advantage’ has been a hot topic of discussion in IPL 2025.

Teams have expressed displeasure at pitch curators when they did not get their preferred kind of track while hosting games.

Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson, however, said he was not one to dwell on this discourse.

“To be very honest, I cut out all my social media almost one month before the IPL season. So, I am not aware of things happening in the media. Both teams get to play on the same wicket. You just have to play smarter and score one run more than the opponent. That’s how I would look at this and I don’t have any complaints,” Samson said ahead of RR’s match against Punjab Kings at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Stadium.

Samson also talked about his experience playing as an Impact Player due to an injury concern. “I think I was a bit surprised [missing out on three games]. I was just holding myself back and seeing the game from another perspective. It was a different experience for me to sit at the dugout and see my young brothers fighting out there,” he added.

PBKS spin-bowling coach Sunil Joshi said he would much rather look at the positives of this season than his side’s poor record at the venue (one win and four losses in IPL 2024).

“First of all, that is last year’s history. We all know that and we have started very well away from home [this year]. We would like to have the same momentum going forward,” Joshi said.
